It’s a boy! And he is hungry. That’s how everything kicked off… With his dad being an art house cinema programmer and music lover, his imagination as a kid was quickly fuelled by both of these arts. Nico De Ceglia is a visionary Italian music geek who makes full use of all things music. Whether it’s as a DJ, producer, journalist, A&R, club promoter or radio show host, there isn’t much at which he hasn’t tried his hand. At the peak of the white label mania he moved to London on a mission of discovery. Working as a scout for one of the biggest record shops in Italy, he helped to spread over the latest promo vinyls to Italian DJs and clubbers. Many of those sought after titles first saw light through his monthly column and weekly radio show. Meeting Pete Tong in 2001, Nico started work as A&R consultant for celebrated FFRR/London and as a scout and pre-selector for Pete's legendary show on BBC Radio 1. A natural evolution of Nico’s ability in finding the hottest titles and artists, here his talents and experienced ear were put to good use, discovering names that have become trademarks in the music scene. The opportunity of DJing around the world as well as being a regular fixture on the London club scene has also helped Nico keep his fingers on the pulse. His monthly night CODEX was one of the most successful midweek parties to grace sorely missed superclub The End, and while no longer active, the CODEX ethos still lives on in the form of his new projects and one-off events. A music lover in the broadest sense, Nico is surely one artist who never fears to try new sounds without overlooking the tried and tested. Refusing the trap of trends and genres, this eclectic approach is reflected also in his studio projects. His works have appeared on labels such as Classic, Rebirth, Glasgow Undeground, Southern Fried, Strictly Rhythm. And under various guises he has remixed for Tevo Howard & Tracey Thorn, DJ Hell, The 2 Bears, Ali Love (as Hyena Stomp with Severino of Horse Meat Disco fame) - Romanthony’s classic “The Wanderer” (as Photo 51 with Franky Redente) – and the most recent one for last year Ibiza anthem “Paper Aeroplane” (as Clock Place with David Agrella). 2014 will see more solo studio works from him, keep your eyes open!!
