DJ, producer and vocalist Alison has been playing records since the mid ’90s. Originally based in Manchester, winning Muzik magazine’s DJ competition led to a move to London, international gigs and residencies at Plastic People, Turnmills and Propaganda Moscow as well as a regular show on Groovetech radio. Parallel to her DJing Alison has been building her studio since 1998 and uses a mixture of analogue and digital equipment in her productions. Monikers include Wallflower (with Leah Floyeurs), Halcyon (with Helen Copnall) and under her own name. Her music is released on labels Rebirth, Dogmatik, Bu-Mako Recordings, House Cafe Music and Dessous. Alison’s recent Wallflower release on Rebirth has been remixed by personal hero Larry Heard. Previously her vocals have also featured in remixes by Charles Webster, Jenifa Mayanja, Dubbyman and Jamie Jones. As a DJ she is both subtle and enlivening, sensitive but never boring. It was recently written that 'Alison Marks is one of those multi-talented people who puts most of us to shame - DJ, Songwriter, Singer and Producer. Her DJ sets are a lesson in cross-genre house music selection and technique'. That'll do nicely thank you, but she would sum it up more simply; Connection thru sound: one of life’s greatest pleasures. Alison Marks and Jimmy Clanfield host The Descendance Mixshow weekly on the radio station born out of the legendary Brooklyn based Deep House Page. The show aims to celebrate the music they love and showcase the music they produce, as well as presenting occasional guests and live performers.
